About the Critical Care Tower

The Brenda Fareri Pavilion: Where Possible Becomes Reality

Every hour, another critically ill patient is rushed to Westchester Medical Center. More than 14,000 each year. They come here because we are the region’s only Level I adult and pediatric trauma center. They come because when the impossible arrives, we take it on.

Impact Areas Inside the Pavilion

The Brenda Fareri Pavilion will be a modern, five-story, 162,000-square-foot facility housing 128 ICU-capable beds. With exciting new technologies, we will also provide all the following healthcare services:

  • Trauma intensive care

As the region’s only Trauma ICU, the Pavilion will add 18 private rooms, equipped with the latest technology and space for families to be close in their hardest moments.

  • Neurosciences

Seconds matter in a stroke. The new Neuro ICU will save more lives, with 32 private rooms and the only Comprehensive Stroke Program in the region.

  • CardiAC CARE

The heart of the Hudson Valley beats here. With 32 private CICU rooms and advanced monitoring, our specialists will give more patients a second chance.

  • SurGICal intensive care

When every minute counts, access to the right surgical team can save a life. The Pavilion’s 32 upgraded rooms will deliver that expertise at the bedside.

Preparing Future Critical Care Providers

One of our primary goals for the new critical care tower is to provide upcoming healthcare service providers with the knowledge they need to succeed. The planned consolidation of critical care resources will facilitate training for the 450+ fellows in general medicine, neurology, trauma, and cardiothoracic surgery. We’ll also house critical care training programs covering all adult services.
